Pro Tip #3: Pack Like a Pro – Be Prepared for Anything!
A farm tour is an adventure, and like any great journey, preparation is key. Here’s your packing checklist for the day:
-
Umbrella: The weather can be unpredictable, so throw one in the car just in case the clouds roll in. No one wants to cut their farm tour short because of a little rain!
-
Cooler with Cold Drinks & Cold Washcloths: Hydration is key, especially when you’re out and about in the sun. Pack a cooler with refreshing drinks to keep you going throughout the day. Pro tip throw a couple of washcloths in a ziploc with a few cubes of ice and add a drop or too of your favorite essential oil to refresh! (Peppermint is one of our faves!)
-
Cash/Credit Card: Many farms will have amazing goodies for sale, from fresh produce to handmade soaps, and you’ll want to have the option to grab some goodies. Plus, it’s always nice to support local farmers with a tip!
-
Roll of Paper Towels: You never know when you’ll need to wipe up a mess or dry your hands after a farmyard visit. Be prepared!
-
Extra Trash Bag: Farm tours can get messy, especially if you’re hopping between muddy fields or running into a puddle or two. Keep a trash bag handy for wet shoes, wrappers, and anything else that needs a home.
-
Comfortable Shoes: You're walking around different farms, so sturdy, comfortable shoes are a must! Alamance Chic ✔️ Mud-proof ✔️
-
Sunscreen & Hat: You’ll be outdoors for much of the day, so don’t forget your sunscreen and a hat to protect your skin from the sun.
-
Reusable Water Bottle: Hydration is key, and having your own water bottle is eco-friendly. Plus, it’ll help you stay refreshed throughout the day.
Pro Tip #4: Stay On Schedule (But Embrace Detours!)
You’re visiting multiple farms, so time management is important. The farms are spread out, and you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss any exciting stops. However, it’s also important to stay flexible – some farms might have impromptu tours, activities, or even live music that could tempt you to stick around a little longer. While it’s important to stay on track, don’t be afraid to let the farm vibes guide you.
Pro Tip #5: Respect the Farms & Farmers
This may seem like a no-brainer, but always remember that the farms you’re visiting are working businesses. Be respectful, follow the rules, and be mindful of the farm environment. And hey, if you spot something you like (fresh produce, handmade soaps, honey), be sure to support the hardworking farmers by making a purchase or leaving a tip!
